A marathon is 26.2 miles long. The average male in their 30's
who trains for a marathon can expect to run the 26.2 miles in
about 4 to 5 hours.
Are you curious as to how well you will do in a marathon?
Here's a simple test you can take using a treadmill. Set your
treadmill speed to the miles per hour pace shown in the table
below. For example if you set your treadmill at a speed setting
of 8.2 (some treadmills may not go this high) then you can expect
to complete the mile in 7 minutes and 19 seconds (7:19) and a
marathon in 3 hours, 10 minutes and 15 seconds (3:10:15) which
is approximately the slowest pace a male between 18-34 must be
able to run to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Click
